Cape Town
I consider Cape Town to be a planet on its own
I consider Cape Town to be a planet on its own, with its great cultural, historical and language diversity. Let me share my Cape Town with you, my love for the city and admiration for the people who call it home. I suggest starting out city tour with climbing on Table Mountain (1086 m) – the business card of Cape Town, using cable cars or by foot (weather permitting) or driving to Signal Hill. The centre of Cape Town offers visitors an excellent opportunity for exploring the city and learning about its rich history. Notable sites to visit include The Castle of Good Hope, The City Hall and Grand Parade, Company Gardens, House of Parliament, St George’s Cathedral, Adderley Street, Green Market Square, the Groote Kerk and Heritage Square. We can stop for lunch in one of the local restaurants or cafés. We can also visit Kirstenbosch Botanical garden and stop there for light lunch or picnic among its exotic flowers. You should visit the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront with its popular attractions such as Cape Town Diamond Museum, Award-Winning Jewellers, Fashion and Décor Boutiques, Art Galleries and Restaurants, Nobel Square, the Art and Craft Market. After the tour, you can explore all these sites by yourself and choose a cosy place for your evening meal.
Cape Point and Cape of Good Hope
The Cape Point and the Cape of Good Hope, situated at the south-western tip of Africa, is a place well known for its treacherous seas, troubling many a ship as they pass between the Atlantic and Indian Oceans. The Cape has become an icon of great historical interest, earning the respect of sailors and attracting the interest of many visitors. By day, it was a navigational landmark, by night and fog, it was a menace beset by violent storms and dangerous rocks that over the centuries littered the coastline with shipwrecks.
The Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve forms part of the Table Mountain National Park that extends from Signal Hill in the north all the way to Cape Point in the South. The park, in turn, forms part of the Cape Floral Region, a World Heritage Site, which includes the majestic Table Mountain chain. The park is home to an entire floral kingdom and many populations of animals, which has earned it this recognition as a natural World Heritage Site and boasts many walking trails and a funicular nicknamed the Flying Dutchman, which takes visitors to the old lighthouse, the brightest on the Southern African coast, as they admire the awe-inspiring panoramic views.
We shall pop into the colony of African Penguins - the only penguins found on the continent with remarkable a viewing point as Boulders Beach.
